We lost our dad early Monday morning, after a few tough weeks. I’m so glad we were able to celebrate his 85th bday in January with him, when he was still able to joke with us and enjoy his cake. The incredible staff at Wilmington Hospital supported all of us as things became more difficult. Lots of memories flooding my thoughts but front of mind is how he taught me to drive a stick shift when I was 14, eventually letting me drive us home from my track practice. Mike Walsh was a rule-breaker of the best kind, a lesson I try to remember. Godspeed, Dad. Be at peace. Don’t forget about us down here.
What’s better on Valentine’s Day than a coupe of pink bubbles? Luckily I had one bottle left of one of my faves: La Cravantine sparkling Cab Franc rosé from Domaine Fabrice Gasnier in the Loire Valley. Happy Valentine’s Day to all of my loves: friends, family, colleagues and, of course, The Great Gabe, as my dad calls him. Life is sweeter with all of you in it!

It’s soup weather in the 305 and I couldn’t be more thrilled. I do feel (a little) bad for the tourists wishing for balmy beach time.
