Up and at ‘em! Was hoping to catch the end of the meteor shower but - nothing. Instead, I was gifted this beautiful prelude to sunrise. Don’t you love how the sky glows, as if to say, “Here comes the sun!” My challenge for the day is to stay in this 24 hours, appreciating the positivity in my midst. Remembering to breathe and say thank you. What’s your mantra for the day?
Looking forward to learning more about the wines of @sokolblosser next week as they kick off their 50th anniversary celebration. I’ve heard such raves about them, but haven’t yet tasted them for myself. Can’t wait to hear what @lizbchicago has to say as she walks us through each wine!
A box of earthly delights from @twoshepherdswine arrived a few days ago. I’m imagining a host of new pairings in the coming weeks! Anyone got a favorite they’d like to share?
Sometimes a food and wine pairing far exceeds expectations, as in the case of this Cauliflower Soup with Rosemary Olive Oil and the Centime orange wine from @twoshepherdswine . The recipe from @nytcooking is almost ridiculously simple - and it’s vegan. As long as you’ve got a good blender, dinner will be on the table in a jiffy.
What a way to jazz up a Monday night! I tried out a new recipe and uncorked one of my favorite white wines. All of a sudden it felt like a celebration. The dish was a risotto with leeks, snap peas, and pancetta, adapted to the jasmine rice I had on hand. While not as dense or creamy as a true risotto, the flavors were delicious: salty, sweet, tangy. And so many textures!
Friday’s looking pretty good, don’t you think? I’ve got a long way to go before my weekend starts, but it’ll sure taste great once I can relax. How’s yours shaping up?
